About Us

Founded in 1897, the Music Teachers' Association of California (MTAC) is a professional organization of approximately 4,500 members throughout the state of California, whose purpose is to promote the pursuit of excellence in music education.  The exacting qualifications for membership in the association establish the MTAC member as a qualified and accredited teacher in the community, thus insuring a professional status.

Golden Gate branch was established in 1954. Our goal is to promote excellence in musical education. To ensure a well-balanced, comprehensive approach to music instruction through a rich variety of programs that explore the multiple dimensions of music and music education; to encourage the involvement and participation of persons of all ages and abilities in appreciating, understanding, engaging in and learning music.

We invite new members of all instruments to join our branch.
